Bio
Dr. Mikhail Botvinov is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in bariatric and general laparoscopic surgery. He is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Association.
These surgical techniques are used to treat and address issues associated with obesity and other general surgery conditions. He has a dual medical education as both a medical doctor (MD) and doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO). Dr. Botvinov completed medical training initially at prestigious Sechenov First Moscow Institute of Medicine in Moscow, Russia, the oldest and largest national medical higher education institution in the Russian Federation.
While in Russia he worked as a general surgeon at the Institute of Laser Surgery. Dr. Botvinov obtained a National Patent for converting a gastrointestinal device to the use of carbon dioxide laser.
In the United States, Dr. Botvinov completed his medical education in the College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM), Westbury, New York. His surgical training was completed in Flushing Hospital, Flushing, New York. He also completed minimally invasive, laparoscopic and bariatric Fellowship training in Staten Island University Hospital, Staten Island, New York. He joined a well respectable Bariatric practice in 2013 and then established his own Bergen Bariatric and Surgical Solutions Practice in 2018.
Dr. Botvinov brings an outstanding level of experience and skill to every surgical procedure, performing the most innovative, effective, and least-invasive surgeries.
He is known for his surgical skills, as well as his deep compassion for his patients, and the challenges they have been facing through being overweight.
Dr. Botvinov is licensed to practice medicine in the states of New Jersey and New York. He is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), the American College of Physicians (ACP), the American Medical Student Association (AMSA). Dr. Botvinov is a candidate member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).
