Dr. Vaimakis is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She has dedicated her practice to bariatric surgery for the last 20 years with over 10,000 cases to date. She started the Bariatric Center of Excellence at Holy Name Medical Center and Englewood Hospital and was the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Holy Name for over 10 years. She was the first to perform robotic bariatric surgery at Hudson
Regional Medical Center as well as at Englewood Hospital and Holy Name Hospital-She has been named to Castle Connolly Top Docs, Bergen’s Best Top Doctor’s as well as Castle Connolly’s Exceptional Women in Medicine for the last 10 years. Her practice specializes not just in offering the sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and Sadi DS but also in revisional surgery for those patients with weight regain. Most importantly Dr. Vaimakis focuses on personalized one on one aftercare with the Doctor not allied health professionals to ensure long term success. Her expertise in obesity medicine has allowed her to be able to treat patients with FDA approved medications who have regained weight after bariatric surgery and get them back on track to reach their goals.
