Bio
Mohammed Faraz Khan, M.D., is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree with Summa Cum Laude honors. While in medical school, he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. In addition, he was the recipient of the Medical Association Dean’s Award which is the highest award given at his medical school to recognize leadership and academic excellence. As an undergraduate at the University of Rochester, he was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society and received a Citation of Achievement in Leadership along with earning his bachelor’s degree with top honors.
Dr. Khan completed his Neurological Surgery residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital where he served as the chief resident. Additionally, he completed a Complex and Minimally Invasive Spine fellowship at the University of Miami under the mentorship of Dr. Alan Levi & Dr. Michael Wang. While at the renowned Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, he focused on the treatment of severe spinal trauma with spinal cord injury, spinal deformity, and complex revision spinal surgery.
Dr. Khan’s strengths lie in strong advocacy of conservative treatments with the goal of optimal and safe outcomes for his patients. He employs minimally invasive techniques, as well as state-of-the-art computer assisted navigation technology in treating neck/back pain, sciatica, disc disease, spinal stenosis, spinal fractures, adult scoliosis, spine tumors, and spinal fusions. Additionally, he is experienced at treating a wide range of neurosurgical conditions such as brain tumors, hydrocephalus and peripheral nerve disorders. He has extensive experience in the treatment of traumatic brain and spinal cord injury.
Dr. Khan has been published in several peer reviewed scientific journals, and has been the author of textbook chapters on the treatment of various spinal disorders. He has served on the American Association of Neurological Surgeons Scientific Planning Committee & is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the Joint Section of Spine & Peripheral Nerve American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
